Hello everyone!  Time for the weekly menu again.  How is your summer going so far?  I’m really excited about going to the 3rd Annual BBQ & Wine Fest at Spicewood Vineyards this weekend.   It’ll be our first time at this event and I can’t wait!  Some of the best BBQ in Texas and exciting Texas wines plus live music.  How fun!  Hopefully, I won’t pass out in this Texas heat!

I had a great time catching up with one of my favorite college roommates this weekend.  It is always so great to see her and her husband!  They live in San Antonio so we decided to meet half way in San Marcus and try out a local place called The Root Cellar Cafe.  It is in the cute historic downtown square and has a diverse menu with several gluten/dairy free options for me.

So we have another menu plan and recipes queued up this week with some of our favorites, including that delicious pulled pork we made last week.  I’m going to try to make the sourdough dinner rolls again, too.  The first try was pretty good but I used organic brown rice flour instead of the sweet white rice flour so hopefully this time they will be a little lighter.  Yum.

Meatless Monday – Greek Salad

Tuesday – Roasted Chicken, Roasted Carrots & Golden Beets, Spinach & Artichokes Sautéed  with Creamy Goat Cheese

Wednesday – Spicy Chicken Spaghetti

Thursday – Pulled Pork with Franklin’s BBQ Sauce, Sourdough Dinner Rolls (using ghee and guar gum in the recipe) , Avocado Cabbage Slaw

Friday – Leftovers

Saturday – BBQ & Wine Fest

Sunday – Taco Night with Homemade Salsa (using fire-roasted Roma tomatoes instead of canned tomatoes)

Hi! I’m Deana. This food blog is all about cooking wholesome real food and developing gluten free recipes for some of our favorite comfort foods. I also create weekly menus to save time and money while reducing stress and food waste. I had to start eating gluten-free in 2010 and dairy/casein-free (except for the occasional Parmesan or goat cheese) in 2014. I’m kind of a science nerd, too. In the ’90s, I earned an undergrad degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. Hook ’em! Then followed up with a PhD in biochemistry and a law degree from the University of Houston. I recently earned a certificate in genomics/sequence analysis from Johns Hopkins University, where I also took a very cool food microbiology course.
