The Gluten Free Weekly Menu Nov. 23 #menuplanning #thanksgiving

Perfect Pot Roast

It’s Thanksgiving Week! And we are totally going to bail on making a turkey. For lots of reasons, but mainly I just don’t want to mess with it and my husband doesn’t really like roasted turkey so that was easy!

We recently became owners at Wheatsville Food Co-op and have had fun exploring the store, especially all the organic local goodies and specialty diet products (gluten free, dairy free, vegan…). Last week we found gluten free croutons (and tested recipes to make really good gluten free stuffing) and this week we discovered the bulk olive oil, local wildflower honey, agave section plus all the stuff below… I’m really loving it! You don’t have to be an owner to shop there and if you can’t get to one of the stores they have Instacart delivery in Austin!

They had this beautiful boneless shoulder roast humanely raised on the Niman Ranch. So pot roast for Thanksgiving it will be!Roast

We also found a gluten free, casein free pie crust (by Wholly Wholesome)  + pumpkin pie mix (Farmer’s Market Brand & will use high fat coconut milk) + So Delicious CocoWhip = safe for me pumpkin pie! ? ? ?

Alright, so here is the casein free, gluten free weekly menu plan for Thanksgiving 2015:

Veggie Stir Fry with Orange Ginger Sauce

Meatless Monday – Broccoli & Stir Fry Veggies with Orange Ginger Sauce (cut sauce recipe in half); Basmati Rice

TuesdayBuffalo Chicken Salad (using Napa cabbage to change things up a bit)

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving! And if you are wondering what wine to serve check out this lovely list of Texas wines from Alissa Leenher,   for : Embracing Variety at the Thanksgiving Table. ??

Hi! I’m Deana. This food blog is all about cooking wholesome real food and developing gluten free recipes for some of our favorite comfort foods. I also create weekly menus to save time and money while reducing stress and food waste. I had to start eating gluten-free in 2010 and dairy/casein-free (except for the occasional Parmesan or goat cheese) in 2014. I’m kind of a science nerd, too. In the ’90s, I earned an undergrad degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. Hook ’em! Then followed up with a PhD in biochemistry and a law degree from the University of Houston. I recently earned a certificate in genomics/sequence analysis from Johns Hopkins University, where I also took a very cool food microbiology course.
