The Gluten Free Weekly Menu June 8 #menuplanning

Hi everyone! Hope you are enjoying your summer. We’ve officially been back in Austin for over a year now. It’s so nice to be back. I just love this city!!! Changes and all.

I’ve made some updates to The Weekly Menu Cookbook (on Amazon and for iBooks). And it should be available on Google Books and Google Play soon. I’m also working on converting all the eCookbooks to ePub and PDF files so I can offer them at various stores and sell them directly from this site. Look for lots of summer deals and promos coming soon!

Patio Garden Cucumbers

My patio garden is growing like crazy and the roses and marigolds are blooming. The rain really got it started and I’ve been watering every night before I go to bed. My cucumber plant is growing wildly but I’ve yet to harvest a cucumber from it (they keep drying up). I’m guessing it has outgrown the pot and needs a lot more water. Any ideas?

I’ve got more little tomatoes growing on my original tomato plant and tons of jalapeños. I’m hoping they will turn red so that I can make a roasted red jalapeño pepper sauce. Yum! And it has been so great to have fresh basil, oregano, thyme and chives. The grapevine is growing, too but still no grapes (pot vs. ground issue or maybe because we moved it). Maybe next year. 🙂

Hi! I’m Deana. This food blog is all about cooking wholesome real food and developing gluten free recipes for some of our favorite comfort foods. I also create weekly menus to save time and money while reducing stress and food waste. I had to start eating gluten-free in 2010 and dairy/casein-free (except for the occasional Parmesan or goat cheese) in 2014. I’m kind of a science nerd, too. In the ’90s, I earned an undergrad degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. Hook ’em! Then followed up with a PhD in biochemistry and a law degree from the University of Houston. I recently earned a certificate in genomics/sequence analysis from Johns Hopkins University, where I also took a very cool food microbiology course.
