The Gluten Free Weekly Menu May 18

For Celiac Awareness Month, I’m giving away free copies of my eCookbooks made for iBooks (viewable on iPad and Mac)! Just email me for the Free Promo Codes and legal stuff at I’ve been working a lot on the blog transition so I haven’t had a chance to get ePub versions uploaded to other stores – but I’m hoping to get that done soon and I’ll run promos for those, too. Not to mention finishing The Weekly Menu III. One thing at a time. šŸ™‚

Also, summertime is so hard for kids who face food insecurity and don’t have access to school lunches. So we’re fundraising for NO KID HUNGRY to help. So far we’ve had very generous donations and raised $200 = 2000 meals! Please join us by making a donation. Every dollar counts!

Patio Garden 2015

It’s been raining a lot here in Austin and my patio garden is going crazy. Especially, my cucumber plant that I started from a seed. It loves this weather and I’m hoping to actually grow some cucs for the first time! I’m growing a tomato plant with the basil, but then I found another one at the HEB with tons of beautiful little tomatoes so we added it. The dream is to grow all the veggies for my Greek salads on the patio (minus the lettuce) and make my own pepper sauce from red jalapeƱos. We shall see!

So here is the casein free, glutenĀ free weekly menu and recipe links for May 18:

Deana Larkin Evans

Hi! I'm Deana. This food blog is all about cooking wholesome real food and developing gluten free recipes for some of our favorite comfort foods. I also create weekly menus to save time and money while reducing stress and food waste. I had to start eating gluten-free in 2010 and dairy/casein-free (except for the occasional Parmesan or goat cheese) in 2014. I'm kind of a science nerd, too. In the '90s, I earned an undergrad degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. Hook 'em! Then followed up with a PhD in biochemistry and a law degree from the University of Houston. I recently earned a certificate in genomics/sequence analysis from Johns Hopkins University, where I also took a very cool food microbiology course.
