Hi everyone! Hope you had a nice week. We’ve enjoyed the sunny weather this week and hit the trail a couple of times. It was fun to be in the heart of the city and listen to some music while we were walking without being caught up in too much of the SXSW chaos. This city is changing so much and so fast.

Here is the casein-free, gluten-free weekly menu for March 23:

Plate Full O' Veggies

Meatless Monday – Plate Full O’ Veggies
(roast, blanch and steam your favorite veggies – we used potato spice on the potatoes, cayenne on the cauliflower and carrots, and a simple Balsamic GF mustard dressing on the green beans and asparagus – delish!)

Chicken Andouille Sausage Gumbo

Tuesday – Chicken Andouille Sausage Gumbo with Basmati Rice (recipe in The Weekly Menu I & The Weekly Menu eCookbook)

Hawaiian Pizza English Muffins

WednesdayHawaiian Pizza (used toasted GF Glutino English muffins as a base with a layer of GF honey ham, Classico pizza sauce, Chao vegan cheese, roasted pineapple, sliced ham, fried shallots and pickled jalapeños)

Teriyaki Chicken Salad

ThursdayTeriyaki Chicken Salad

FridaySingapore Street Noodles (using red cabbage instead of green)

Saturday – Roasted Chicken (testing a new brine of seasoned salt & sumac), Polenta, Asparagus & Pomegranate Molasses Sauce (from The Weekly Menu II)

Oven Baked Crispy Chicken Tenders

Sunday – Oven-Baked Crispy Chicken Tenders, Homemade BBQ sauce (will blog this easy new recipe, too), Cabbage Coleslaw (The Weekly Menu I); Carrot Cake Muffins

Here is The Shopping List for March 23. Have a healthy happy week! 🙂

Hi! I’m Deana. This food blog is all about cooking wholesome real food and developing gluten free recipes for some of our favorite comfort foods. I also create weekly menus to save time and money while reducing stress and food waste. I had to start eating gluten-free in 2010 and dairy/casein-free (except for the occasional Parmesan or goat cheese) in 2014. I’m kind of a science nerd, too. In the ’90s, I earned an undergrad degree in biochemistry from The University of Texas at Austin. Hook ’em! Then followed up with a PhD in biochemistry and a law degree from the University of Houston. I recently earned a certificate in genomics/sequence analysis from Johns Hopkins University, where I also took a very cool food microbiology course.
